Hebrews 4:9 in the King James Version reads, “There remains therefore a rest for the people of Elohim.”
Let’s examine this Scripture in context.
In the Scriptures leading up to verse 9 (Heb. 3:11; 4:1, 3, 4, 8), the word “rest” was translated from the Greek word “katapausis” and was correctly translated as “rest.” In context, it refers to the millennial rest, a 1,000-year period of time that will begin when Yeshua returns to set up His kingdom (Rev. 20:1-4)!
However, in verse 9 the word “rest” was incorrectly translated from the Greek word “sabbatismos,” which, as most margins show, means, “the keeping of the Sabbath.”
This Scripture is a New Testament, Sabbath commandment, confirming the fact that the followers of Yeshua are required to keep the weekly Sabbath rest now, in order to enter into the millennial, Sabbath rest later.
Correctly translated, this Scripture should read, “There remains; therefore, a Sabbath rest for the people of Elohim.” This is how it is translated in this version.
